Sulfur Processing

Amine Treating

Amine treating is one of the most widely-used and cost-effective methods of removing hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide from hydrocarbon streams. Lummus Technology's solutions for refiners include reliable specialty and conventional amine plants to meet a variety of specifications.

Lummus Technology has designed and built more than 60 amine units in sizes ranging up to 4,000 gpm for major refiners around the world. Executing projects on a lump sum, turnkey basis, we provide a full range of services that include feasibility and HAZOP studies, front-end engineering and design (FEED), detailed engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, startup, commissioning and operator training.

Amine expertise

We've drawn upon our extensive experience in oil and gas processing to offer the most effective and reliable amine treating technology available. We design both specialty and conventional amine units to accommodate a variety of capacity needs, gas-flow rates and other customer specifications. Amine units include features such as regenerator/stripper controls to minimize acid gas to flaring, and low-pressure flash drums to optimize liquid hydrocarbon separation and light hydrocarbon removal.

Design features also include a filtration system with adequately sized carbon filter and carbon after-filter equipment. The filtration system significantly reduces the foaming potential of the solvent, improving unit reliability while increasing run-length. In addition, the amine system utilizes metallurgy that is suitable for wet sour service to resist the potential of induced stress cracking.
