Erika Taurel on leading thriving teams with Authority Magazine

Lummus CFO shares insights on leadership, team development and creating a culture of growth

Since becoming Chief Financial Officer in 2025, Erika Taurel has focused on building a finance organization where people are trusted with meaningful responsibility, encouraged to bring their strengths and perspectives to the table, and empowered to do the best work of their careers.

In a recent interview with Authority Magazine, Erika discussed how ownership, continuous learning, and empowering others shape her approach to leadership. Inspired by Lummus Technology's core value, We Thrive as One, she believes the strongest results come when people work toward a common goal and feel empowered to contribute their perspectives.

For Erika, leadership is about creating clarity, removing barriers, and designing an environment where people can succeed. She believes that when individuals are aligned to work that leverages their strengths and fuels their passion, both they and Lummus thrive.

“The best ideas can come from anyone, and great leaders make space for those ideas to be heard,” Erika shared. "I want to understand what each person is passionate about, what they want to learn, and how they hope to grow, so I can shape opportunities and responsibilities that help them achieve their goals and reach their full potential. In my experience, people do their best work when they’re excited by what they’re doing. When people are engaged and growing, they thrive, and when they thrive, the whole team benefits.”

By creating conditions for people to thrive, Erika is helping build a team that takes ownership, pushes beyond perceived limits, and delivers results that surpass expectations.
