Enhancing Performance

Integral to most refining, petrochemical and natural gas processes our high performing catalysts and adsorbents provide the performance required to meet and exceed your production goals. We maintain proprietary catalyst formulations tied to our licensed processes that improve process economics by steering reactions to higher conversions and yields, and offer a portfolio of adsorbent technologies to meet a broad spectrum of applications. 
 
We also offer proprietary critical equipment based on patented designs that are essential to the proper functioning and performance of our licensed processes. For more than 80 years, we have designed and built Fired Heaters, DeNOx Units and Heat Exchangers as well as ethylene furnaces and furnaces for delayed coking for clients around the globe.

Heat Transfer Equipment

For more than 80 years, we have provided process industries around the world with the design and supply of specialized heat transfer equipment. We offer proprietary critical equipment based on patented designs that are essential to the proper functioning and performance of our licensed processes.

Fired Process Heaters

Through our heat transfer group, we specialize in the design and supply of fired heaters for the petrochemical and refining industries backed by services that range from conceptual and feasibility studies to turnkey heater projects. We have designed and supplied fired process heaters for a diverse range of applications such as steam reformers, visbreaker heaters, delayed cokers, crude and vacuum heaters, hydrocrackers, catalytic reformers and EDC (ethylene dichloride) crackers. Steam reformers include applications in ammonia, methanol, hydrogen and towngas plants, and for the reduction of iron ore.

Delayed Coking Heater Technology

For more than 70 years, we have designed and supplied furnaces for delayed coking projects that range from small single heaters to the current multi-heater installations with air preheat systems. Our delayed coking heaters have handled a wide range of feedstocks in refineries and upgraders for both fuel and specialty coke production mode of operations. We also design delayed coking heaters with a unique configuration that allows isolation of individual coils or cabins for mechanical decoking (pigging) of the heater tubes while the unit is kept on-line.

SRT® Ethylene Furnaces

At Lummus, we have built more ethylene furnaces than any other ethylene process licensor, representing more than 40% of worldwide capacity. In response to the growing ethylene demand we have developed a state-of-the-art pyrolysis furnace. The first generation of the pyrolysis heater called SRT-I (Short Residence Time), was developed in the mid-1960s. Today, the most widely selected SRT furnaces include SRT-III, SRT-V, SRT-VI and SRT‑VII, which are known for their reliability in capacity, yield, run-length and energy efficiency. Together with SCHMIDTSCHE SCHACK-ARVOS, we have also developed the proprietary transfer line exchangers “Bath Tub” and “Quick Quencher.” Which provide quick quench to the cracking effluent for high ethylene yield and extended TLE run-length.
